Jungle Jim’s International Market is a one-of-a-kind grocery store on Dixie Highway in Fairfield, Ohio, just north of Cincinnati. What started in 1975 as a small roadside fruit stand has grown into a destination market that locals and visitors call a “foodie amusement park,” with a maze of departments stocked with groceries from around the world.
The big draw is the selection. Jungle Jim’s carries more than 180,000 products from over 70 countries, so you can find everything from everyday staples to hard-to-find international ingredients in one trip. Shoppers come for the huge produce section, fresh seafood and meat counters, a deli and bakery, an enormous wall of hot sauces, a well-stocked cheese department and imported snacks, candy and drinks you rarely see in regular supermarkets.
The store is also known for its fun, quirky atmosphere. Walking the aisles, you will spot animatronic characters, themed displays and historical tributes, and the famous Jungle Jim’s Monorail, which guests can ride on special festival days. Adults can also stop by the Tasting Bar and Tiki Bar, and the store sells beer, wine and spirits.
Good to know: Jungle Jim’s Fairfield is open seven days a week from 8 AM to 10 PM, with shorter hours on some holidays and closed on Christmas Day. Liquor sales run from 9 AM to 10 PM, and the Tasting Bar and Tiki Bar are open from 11 AM daily. Parking in the store lot is free. Plan extra time to explore, because a first visit usually takes much longer than a regular grocery run.
Whether you are stocking up on international ingredients, hunting for a special treat or simply looking for a unique local outing in the Cincinnati area, Jungle Jim’s International Market is a Fairfield favorite worth the trip.
