Paul Molé Barber Shop on Lexington Avenue is one of New York City’s most storied barbershops. It has been cutting hair and shaving faces on Manhattan’s Upper East Side since 1913, and after more than a century in business it is often described as the oldest barbershop in Manhattan.
Climb the stairs to the second floor between 73rd and 74th Streets and you step into another era. The shop is filled with aged wood, leather-and-chrome barber chairs, antique barber poles, vintage shaving mugs, and walls of autographed black-and-white photos of the actors and celebrities who have sat in its chairs over the decades. Guests are greeted with a complimentary cappuccino.
Master barbers offer classic gentlemen’s haircuts, deluxe straight-razor shaves, natural hair coloring, manicures, and shoeshines. The shop is also known for its children’s barber service, so it is common to see several generations of the same family as regulars.
Paul Molé is open Monday to Friday from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM, Saturday from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, and Sunday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Appointments are encouraged, and walk-ins are welcome. Find directions, contact details, and more about this classic New York barbershop right here on P6D.net.
